SLEEPING WITH SONGBIRDS
Good Nightingale by Pip Studio
A beamed attic bedroom at the 12th-century Château de Cerisay has been transformed with a specialist installation of Pip Studio’s Good Nightingale botanical wallpaper, a richly detailed design featuring songbirds nestled among leafy and floral branches.
The room’s ceiling rises steeply from floor level and is defined by a complex framework of ancient honey-coloured timbers supporting the roof. This unusual structure created a precise technical challenge, requiring millimetre-accurate alignment to achieve seamless pattern-matching from the floor to the highest point of the room.
The wallpaper brings botanicals and a sense of the surrounding countryside into this characterful space, its warm green ground lifted by subtle metallic details across the birds and florals, creating the impression of dappled light within the room.
The completed room balances the château’s ancient architectural features with a wallpaper described by Pip Studio as “classic, but with a twist”, installed by Fouassier with his hallmark precision and aesthetic sensitivity.
" Exceptional wallpapers deserve exceptional installation. "
Arnaud Fouassier

“This project demonstrates how specialist craftsmanship can support the preservation and enhancement of historic interiors,” says Arnaud Fouassier.
“Every detail had to be carefully considered so the wallpaper would feel fully integrated with the room’s architecture, rather than simply applied to it.”
