BLIND MAN'S BUFF
An Historic Wallpaper By Mauny
Blind Man's Buff, known in France as Colin Maillard, is an ancient game of tag - and the subject of this wallpaper design by Mauny.
Block-printed by hand in 1936, this design depicts a pastoral scene in soft greys and greens.
To install the wallpaper, the walls were first lined, then the wallpaper was applied using the traditional overlap technique.
Fouassier and his team of restoration specialists painted the woodwork, added trompe l'oeil detail and restored the stained glass, transforming the room.
