Historic Emerson Arabesque by Adelphi Paper Hangings
An historic wallpaper design was chosen for George Washingtons’ bedchamber as part of a $40 million multi-year project to restore the first president's Mount Vernon home that involved teams of specialists and restorers.
The wallpaper design, Emerson Arabesque, dated to the 1790s, is a block-printed pattern originally by French wallpaper company Réveillon / Jacquemart et Bénard and now made by New York-based Adelphi Paper Hangings.
The pattern is inspired by Roman frescoes and features love birds, a common motif for a bedchamber.
