Décor Chinois by Zuber in Switzerland
A lakeside villa at Neuchâtel in Switzerland was the location of a Fouassier project to install heritage Décor Chinois, a hand block-printed wallpaper by Zuber.
Twenty panels of the amazing panoramic of exotic birds, flowers and foliage were chosen for the villa. Next, the surfaces were carefully prepared to ensure they were flawless.
A particular feature of this installation was to make it possible for this exceptional and valuable wallpaper to be removed and rehung.
Internationally renowned for the skills needed to handle delicate and hand-made art wallpapers, Fouassier travels the world to tackle challenging assignments.

Patience and precision are key to handling the precious paper panels, with every join considered - and with respect for the centuries-old, hand-crafted process to create and install such exquisite and delicate block-printed wallpaper.
Joining Arnaud Fouassier for this special Zuber installation was his mentor and former head of Zuber, Émile Intondi, now president of the Rixheim Wallpaper Museum.
Zuber
Zuber, based in Rixheim, France, whose history as a wallpaper manufacturer goes back to the 1700s, is the oldest wallpaper manufacturer in the world.
Famous for their heritage panoramic scenic wallpapers that are still hand-crafted using antique wooden printing blocks, Zuber wallpapers are highly valued and installed using traditional methods and in such as way that they can be removed and reinstalled elsewhere.
Décor Chinois by Zuber was printed by hand at their Rixheim base, near Mulhouse in France, using 384 antique wooden printing blocks and 57 colours.
Zuber is now owned by Pierre Frey, a third-generation family-owned company that is "committed to preserving and enhancing this priceless heritage".
